Centre for tourist initiatives of Olot

The Centre for Tourist Inititiatives of Olot was founded in 1964.

The CIT promotes and organizes activities that should allow Olot and the county of La Garrotxa to become a magnet for visitors to and from Catalonia.

CIT is managed with a view to promoting those activities that will provide decisive support to sectors linked to business, tourism and culture in the county.

As a private initiative association without any profit motive in mind, this entity organizes events that bring a considerable increase in the number of visitors to Olot and La Garrotxa. Among others, such events include la Batalla de les Flors (a float parade during which people throw confetti at one another) and Carnaval d'Olot (Olot's Carnival). Also, CIT is one of the entities that attempt to preserve and promote the traditional and cultural aspects and assets of La Garrotxa. This is why the Festa d'elecció i proclamació de la pubilla i l'hereu de la Garrotxa (festival of proclamation of the Heir and Heiress of La Garrotxa) and two occasions deeply rooted in the villagers, namely, Mother's Day and the Junior Painting Contest are organized every year.

Since 2006 it has organized the prize-proclamation ceremony for Garrotxa's Outstanding Character of the Year, in recognition to those who achieved the best for society in La Garrotxa.
